Myobloc®; (rimabotulinumtoxinB) Injection is indicated for the treatment of adults with cervical dystonia to reduce the severity of abnormal head position and neck pain associated with cervical dystonia.

Myobloc (botulinum toxin Type B) is quite different from the Type A toxins, such as Botox and Dysport. From a patient perspective, the important differences are as follows:

Rate of Onset -- Myobloc starts working much faster than the Type A toxins, usually within the first day of injection.

Duration -- Myobloc lasts roughly 2/3 the time that Botox and Dysport do, requiring more frequent injections.

Discomfort -- Myobloc typically causes considerably more discomfort immediately after injection than Botox or Dysport does. But the discomfort is short-lived.

Cross-Reactivity of Antibodies -- Sometimes Botox and Dysport may stop working as well as they used to for a particular patient. Diet may play a role; however, other factors may be at work as well, and sometimes people will get temporary benefit from Myobloc injections for a while before returning to successful Botox or Dysport treatments.
