Reconstructive Procedures at Plastic Eye Surgery Associates

Reconstructive surgery differs from cosmetic surgery in that reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the face, caused by birth defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma or injury, infection, tumors, or disease. It is generally performed to improve function, but may also be done to improve appearance.

Modern treatment options allow facial eye plastic surgeons to achieve improvements in form and function thought to be impossible 10 years ago. Below are the reconstructive procedures we use most often:

Ectropion - outward Turning of the Lower Eyelid
Entropion - inward Turning of the Lower Eyelid
Thyroid Eye Disease - an autoimmune eye condition that is often seen in conjunction with Graves' Disease.
Eyelid Reconstructions -
Eyelid Skin Cancer - often involves the skin of the eyelid or adjacent face.
Ptosis - Drooping of the upper eyelid
Tearing - an obstruction of the tear duct
Orbital Trauma - injuries to the orbit or tissue surrounding the eye
Orbital Tumors - tumors that develop in the orbit, eyeball, eye muscles, the optic nerve or the fat in-between
Blepharospasm Treatment - Benign essential blepharospasm is a condition that usually involves both eyes.
Corrective Plastic Surgery - plastic surgery revision, repairing other's work.
